This is the last Damascus katana Handmade by famous bladesmith Bob Engnath of the world renowned shop of Blades N Stuff using Howard Clark damascus. I have pictures of the letter I wrote Because I did not receive the blade, and a letter from his wife saying that there was confusion after his passing and this was the last one he was working on and she didn't know where to send it.I wanted a working blade that had some weight, through his guidance we agreed upon the details. I had planned to do my own polishing and requested it unfinished. This was back in 1998 or so and my plans changed.
The cross section of the blade is slightly clam shaved and it has no fuller carved into it. It is wild with juka-choji/saka-choji pattern and the quality of the metal is great with the promise of an excellent finish. The pictures show the rest if you have any questions contact me.I have included the measurements and it comes with a saya and handle that I created myself. I carefully applied a first-rate ray skin.
I also created the habaki out of silicon bronze, it has a round shape in the front that can be used to apply a decorative insert. If you have the skills it would make an excellent project, or you could hire me to finish it out! Overall length in the sheath 43.5 Wood part of handle.12 1/8 Actual Edge a blade. 21.5mm Sori- space of the Curve. 10.5mm Thickness at habaki. 5mm I have also included other measurements along with these included in the pictures.
